Our
Next Show Aug 2010
HATS have
been working and playing very hard so far this Summer. We have
been getting ready for our
next show which is due for production in September. We
would like to thank Peterborough City Council's deputy mayor
for accepting our invitation to see our show HATS in 3D in
September. Tickets are on
sale now.
We have also
been been enjoying various HATS socials, see here
for photos. And back in June various HATS members, performed in the Peterborough
Festival at the Key
Theatre, see right, as part of the You're
In Control Theatre Company in a show called This
Is Peterborough, a live improvised comedy soap opera. We
met other actors from around the city and formed some great
friendships.

HATS will be
doing something never before seen in England for their next
show. Rehearsals are currently underway for a unique
unmissable extravaganza, which will be performed in September
at Peterborough High School. Watch this space for more
details! You don't want to miss this one.
Also, our
chairman Kevin Hughes has returned from a charitable mission
to Namibia, helping to build a playground for tribal children.
HATS members and audience helped raise money for this. Well
done, Kev!
Some HATS
members will be performing in the Peterborough
Festival as part of the You're
In Control Theatre Company in a show called This
Is Peterborough, a live improvised comedy soap opera. It
will be performed at the Key Theatre 28 June - 2nd July.
Another great review
for HATS Feb
2010
Our
recently performed show Amdram
Thank You Ma'am was another success for HATS.
We
performed three packed nights and are now taking a few
weeks break before reconvening on March 9th to decide what
our next production will be.
The
following review for 'Amdram Thank You Ma'am' was
submitted by our NODA
Eastern Area rep Michael Williamson for the
Spring 2010 edition of 'NODA Eastern Area News':
"Since
their foundation five years ago, HATS must be one of the
most improved Societies in the District. The strong team
spirit exhibited by the group, combined with a keen sense
of fun and originality, make their productions both
enjoyable and memorable and this particular show was no
exception. The main features of the evening were two
one-act comedies: ’Last Panto in Little Grimley’ and
‘Melons at the Parsonage’. Both were effectively
staged and well cast. A last minute cast change in ‘Last
Panto’ meant that both Michael Skinner and James
Cuthbert had to undertake new roles at very short notice,
but this was certainly not apparent to the audience and
both actors deserve congratulation. In the rewarding part
of Joyce, Calli Robertson-Dupont was delightful while
Pamela Wren made a splendid Margaret. My favourite play of
the evening however was ‘Melons at the Parsonage’
which admirably depicted the final throes of a Drama
Festival and here, all the casting was inspired. There
were particularly strong performances from Julie Jordan as
Iris and Michael Skinner as Ted, while Kevin Hughes,
Farron Hussey and Gisele Rawlins all added their own
particular brand of mayhem to the competing companies. In
the interval, Gisele, Julie and Debbie joined Chairman,
Kevin Hughes in the musically challenging African 80s
Megamix, raising funds to support Kevin’s imminent trip
to Namibia to work with Raleigh International and it is
this kind of strong community involvement that always
makes HATS so special. Praise also for the imaginative and
informative programme which, again, is becoming a HATS
trademark. The entire evening was a great credit to
Director, James Cuthbert and the whole cast and production
team and I look forward to the Company’s next dramatic
offering".

Thank You Ma'am' Feb
