project in a few weeks and have asked HATS to
contribute our publicity material towards it.

project will be working with residents in the
Hamptons for three years, to make the
Hamptons a more sustainable community and one
of the nicest places in Peterborough to live.

needs of the Hampton community.

NODA
President's Congratulations Nov 2005
The NODA President,
Mr Eric Smart, has joined in the praise for
our successful October show.
In a
letter addressed to the whole group he says:
"First of all, may
I say how much my wife and I enjoyed our
visit to 'Holiday Confusion'.
What
an admirable presentation by a group so
young. There had been some considerable time
put into the production to make it as
successful as it was. The players gave good
accounts of themselves, in each of the
one-act plays. The sets were simple but
effective and costuming was also good. Both
plays had good pace and I was enormously
encouraged, on behalf of your community, by
what I witnessed.
Community
theatre is surely what our movement is about
and how well you all threw yourselves into
that. The audience was hysterical with
laughter and your director is to be
congratulated on his significant achievement.
Please pass on my sincere congratulations to
ALL concerned and may I wish you every
success in all that you tackle in the future."
Mayor's
Congratulations Nov 2005
HATS
has received a congratulatory letter in
regards to our debut show from the Mayor of
Peterborough, Councillor
John Horrell CBE.
He
says: "My wife and
I were very pleased to attend the performance
of Holiday Confusion. It was a most amusing
performance and I congratulate the company on
the production. It was also encouraging and
pleasing to see people in the new community
of Hampton coming together to form this
society"
Holiday
Confusion Success! Oct 2005
The
Hampton Amateur Theatre Society's debut
production 'Holiday Confusion' was a massive
success! We performed two shows during the
evenings of 22 and 23 October to around 300
people and VIPs, including the NODA President
and Mayor of Peterborough.
The
feedback we received from audience members
was amazing - everyone loved the
performances, and we got many big laughs.
The general
feeling was that the show was much better
than people expected from a new amdram group.
Eric
Smart, NODA President, was particularly
impressed and said he was very surprised that
most of us had never acted before. He was
amazed that so few people had managed to put
on such a marvellous first production and
said our standards were very good.
After
much build-up, excitement, and an
alcohol-fuelled after-show party we are now
taking a well-earned rest before rehearsals
start for our May 2006 performance. Check out
some photos from the play here

enjoyed the experience very much and are
looking forward to seeing Mr. Lawrence again
when he comes to see the play. See the photos

Cowdell, our director, will also give a

TV
Appearance Jul 2005
| Two HATS
members took part in a re-enactment
for a London-based independent
television company on July 18th 2005.
The group had been approached by a
researcher asking for our
participation. The
filming took place at Flag
Fen,
Peterborough, and was for a factual
documentary programme about life in
Neolithic Britain. The programme will
be screened on the National
Geographic channel and
is likely to be scheduled for viewing
in December this year, further
details to appear here when we have
it.
The
budding actors, Julie Jordan and Mark
Cowdell, were dressed in what experts
believe would have been worn in the
early Bronze Age. Both members took
part in a re-enactment of a funeral,
and played musical instruments that
are believed to have been played in
the period that the programme is
based.
You
never quite know what can happen as a
member of HATS!
