'Last
Panto in Little Grimley' by David Tristram
All that Gordon
the director wants is to put on a panto without any
hitches. Unfortunately his cast of 2, plus set
handyman Bernard, are proving difficult to manage.
Joyce can't act, Margaret has an accident and Bernard
just can't be bothered. Will Gordon ever manage to
pull it off?

'Melons
at the Parsonage' by Nick Warburton
The action takes place at an amateur dramatics awards
ceremony. Excitement builds as two very different
local groups battle it out for the Best Production
title... literally!

The following
review for 'Amdram Thank You Ma'am' was submitted by our NODA
Eastern Area rep Michael Williamson for the Spring 2010
edition of 'NODA Eastern Area News':
"Since
their foundation five years ago, HATS must be one of the most
improved Societies in the District. The strong team spirit exhibited
by the group, combined with a keen sense of fun and originality,
make their productions both enjoyable and memorable and this
particular show was no exception. The main features of the evening
were two one-act comedies: ’Last Panto in Little Grimley’ and
‘Melons at the Parsonage’. Both were effectively staged and well
cast. A last minute cast change in ‘Last Panto’ meant that both
Michael Skinner and James Cuthbert had to undertake new roles at
very short notice, but this was certainly not apparent to the
audience and both actors deserve congratulation. In the rewarding
part of Joyce, Calli Robertson-Dupont was delightful while Pamela
Wren made a splendid Margaret. My favourite play of the evening
however was ‘Melons at the Parsonage’ which admirably depicted
the final throes of a Drama Festival and here, all the casting was
inspired. There were particularly strong performances from Julie
Jordan as Iris and Michael Skinner as Ted, while Kevin Hughes,
Farron Hussey and Gisele Rawlins all added their own particular
brand of mayhem to the competing companies. In the interval, Gisele,
Julie and Debbie joined Chairman, Kevin Hughes in the musically
challenging African 80s Megamix, raising funds to support Kevin’s
imminent trip to Namibia to work with Raleigh International and it
is this kind of strong community involvement that always makes HATS
so special. Praise also for the imaginative and informative
programme which, again, is becoming a HATS trademark. The entire
evening was a great credit to Director, James Cuthbert and the whole
cast and production team and I look forward to the Company’s next
dramatic offering".
